I am Umar, and the double dapples I have met were never sad little dogs waiting for pity. They were busy, nosy dachshunds who happened to read the world with less sight, less hearing, or a bit of both. That…
Most mix guides could swap the breed names and read the same. A Pomeranian Dachshund mix, often called a Dameranian, cannot, because the cross itself creates the quirks. You get a spitz coat stretched over a long body, a watchdog…
The dachshund cocker spaniel mix is the dog people stop me to ask about. Most folks call the mix a Docker or a Doxie Spaniel, and that name fits a small dog with a longish body, soft spaniel eyes, and…
People write to me about the dachshund golden retriever mix more than almost any other cross. The idea sounds sweet, a friendly golden in a smaller, longer package, and photos online make it look common. Here is the honest truth…
I am Umar, and I have loved dachshunds for as long as I can remember. Naming a puppy sounds easy until you are holding that tiny pup in your arms and every name suddenly feels too big, too plain or…

Cross a pug who lives to make you laugh with a dachshund who thinks he runs the house, and you get the Daug. Owners tell me the same thing every time, the personality is far bigger than the dog. Like…
I get asked about piebald vs dapple dachshunds more than almost any other coat question. The two patterns look confusing at first glance, especially when a puppy has a lot of white on it. Once you know what made the…
Do dachshunds shed? It is one of the first questions people ask me before bringing one home, so I will give you the honest answer straight away. Yes, they shed, though usually less than new owners fear. How much hair…
The first dachshund puppy I looked at, I nearly bought on the spot. The photos were cute, the seller was friendly, and I had done almost no homework. I walked away that day by luck more than judgment, and I…
